The food taste like you went over your Italian friends house and his grandmother made food for the family that you’re welcomed to. The pasta and lasagna were delicious! The garlic bread was not a highlight, but everything else was top notch. The environment/atmosphere made the dining experience that much better.

Visiting Filippi's Pizza Grotto in Little Italy feels like taking a delicious step back in time. Walking through the quaint, connected Italian market and deli before reaching the dining area sets a unique and wonderful tone. The ambiance is incredibly warm and nostalgic, complete with cozy dim lighting and classic red-checked tablecloths. The pizza here is an absolute standout. It’s exactly what you want when craving hearty, traditional comfort food—a satisfyingly thick, crispy crust generously loaded with high-quality ingredients and an ocean of perfectly melted mozzarella. The portions are impressively large, ensuring you'll leave completely full (and likely with some leftovers). If you are looking for a side or pasta, the ravioli and the savory meatball dinners are packed with rich, authentic flavor. What truly makes this place a local gem is the outstanding customer service. The staff is welcoming and treats you just like family, which perfectly complements the vintage, neighborhood-staple vibe. It’s an ideal spot for a fun family dinner, a casual outing with friends, or anyone craving authentic, reasonably priced Italian-American classics in the heart of San Diego. I highly reco

We had a nice experience at Filippi’s Pizza Groto. The service was very kind, the ambience is welcoming and it matches the Italian aesthetic. Now, the food was very tasty, but there’s some things that they could improve. The pasta was good but I think it was a bit undercooked, although my mother said it was ‘al dente’ so I’ll say it’s about taste. The pizza was great but we just thought that it was a bit too thick. Ceases salad was perfect, no complaints, and the garlic bread was delicious. I do would recommend to try Filippi’s Pizza but you need to go hungry, cause the portion sizes are big,

Filippi’s pizza grotto was a great pick for dinner for us. Of the many places to choose in little Italy it intrigued us the most to try it. The staff was incredibly friendly and baby friendly. We started with the kids Alfredo for our 15 month old and the bread half cheesy. The kids portion was huge and we were glad to try some as well! Alfredo had that rich creamy flavor. We split pizza and some spaghetti and ravioli with sausage and meatballs. The ravioli were stuffed to the brim and bursting with flavor. The meatball was ginormous and packed so much flavor in every bite. The pizza was also very good. Definitely would go back and worth stopping in if you haven’t. I enjoyed looking through the store out front as well. We sat outside on the patio but there was plenty of indoor dining as well.

My family and I have been coming to Filippi's for over 45 years, and we've had countless of memorable dinners, birthday celebrations, and special moments here. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed, and inviting, with an authentic Italian charm that keeps us coming back. The service is consistently excellent, but the real star is the food. The portions are generous, the quality is outstanding, and their award-winning pizza is absolutely amazing. Everything on the menu is fantastic, but our favorites on rotation are the antipasto salad, mushroom pizza, meat lovers pizza, cold torpedo sandwich, and linguini with clam sauce. Filippi's is always one of our first choices when hosting out-of-town guests, and it never disappoints. It's a true San Diego staple and a place that has been part of our family's traditions for generations. Highly recommended!
